Wasting God

Because God is so superior to us, it is almost a sin for us to think of Him as a resource. We belong to Him and we need to be His resources. But He is the most wonderful resource we can have. He wants to give Himself to us. Unbelievers waste one hundred percent of God. We believers waste way more of Him than we should.

We waste His knowledge and wisdom when we disobey Him. We waste His wonderful will when we don*t trust Him. We waste His love when we don*t love others. We waste His power when we don*t serve Him. We waste His plan for our lives when we go our own way. We waste His listening ear when we don*t pray. We waste His truth when we don*t study and preach the Bible. We waste His guidance when we don*t seek it. We waste His presence whenever we exclude Him from the nooks and crannies of our lives. We waste His presence when we forget about Him. We waste His influence when we ignore Him. We waste His blessing when we sin. We waste the time that He wants to spend with us in a multitude of ways. The more we waste of God, the more we waste of what He wants us to keep, to make use of and to enjoy.

In trying to express some of the many of ways in which we waste God, I know I have bitten off more than I can chew. Only He knows all of the ways that He is available to us. Only He knows all the things of Himself that He offers to us. Only He fully knows the damage we do by wasting Him. Only He knows the blessings we have lost by wasting Him. Only He knows the heartache it causes Him when we waste Him and the gifts He wants to give us.

Ephesians 3:17-19: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Ephesians 4:17 . . . 27: This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, . . . 27 Neither give place to the devil.

Whatever place we give to the devil instead of to God is wasted.

Lord, forgive us for wasting so much of our relationship with You, the most wonderful relationship we can have!!
